The Prince and the Troll by Rainbow Rowell- book review

This short story is part of an Amazon Prime Reading type series. I have read other books part of that same concept but have been all the same author where this set has all different authors. This is book two and I don’t think they are connected in any way. I listened to this (as well as the first one, and will the rest of them), but nothing really stood out to me about it. I guess its kinda hard to grasp too much in a short story? lol

It was not a bad read, but the description is as such:

“Its fate when a man accidently drops his phone off the bridge. Its fortune when its retrieved by a friendly shape sloshing in the muck underneath. From that day forward, as they share a coffee every morning, an unlikely friendship blooms. Considering the reality for the man above, where life seems perfect, and that of a sharp witted creature below, how forever after can a happy ending be?”

It honestly felt really.. meh in a way.. it seemed he was doing the whole ..its not as bad as you make it sound.. and then she was just.. negative. I could be wrong but that’s what I gather from it and I was not really impressed.

I have not read anything by this author before, and I kept any feedback on their writing out of my mind til I sat to write this review. And in hindsight I have noticed their writing is polarizing. You hate it or love it. I must admit I can’t say I am a fan.

I will be giving this short story barely 3 stars, and will be going on to the next book in the set.

Thanks for stopping by and here is to a better year in 2021.

Happy New Year
